East Mountain Drive Bridge Replacement

E. Mtn. Drive Bridge at San Ysidro Creek - [2020-2021]

This project consisted of installing a 75’x16’ prefabricated steel truss bridge to replace a bridge that was destroyed by the Thomas Fire Debris Flow in 2018. The County of Santa Barbara Contracted with Peter Lapidus Construction, Inc. for the project construction.

The project consisted of : installing 24” drilled concrete pilings to a depth of 35’, constructing cast in place abutments & wingwalls with embedded anchors, assembling the bridge, craning it into place & attaching it. Once the bridge was installed, we performed all the site grading, asphalt milling, utility adjustments & asphalt paving. The job had a maximum 40 working day duration which spanned over the Christmas New Years holiday. The agency added extra scope & we were still able to finish under the 40 day maximum window time frame. It was great to be involved in putting our community back together after the disaster. This project has special meaning as we worked at neighboring properties cleaning up shortly after the disaster. To see it all coming back together was very satisfying.
